Let’s Grow Together

Current Community Activities

We are hosting Emotional Emancipation Circles for Black Men. Emotional Emancipation Circles (EECs) are culturally grounded healing spaces designed to help people of African ancestry heal from the trauma of anti-Black racism and the false narrative of Black inferiority which significantly impacts our emotional, psychological, spiritual, social, and financial wellbeing. EECs aim to empower participants to reclaim their emotional well-being, strengthen resilience, and cultivate joy and self-determination. EECs are rooted in African-centered psychology and community-defined evidence practices, emphasizing cultural congruency and collective healing rather than traditional Western problem-focused models.

In addition to the 8 EECs sessions the program includes:

  • a social outing to build brotherhood,

  • a 2 day wellness retreat,

  • a podcast featuring Black barbers for the healing they do from behind the chair

  • access to Sekhem's digital health platform, the Wellness Vault, that provides

    • holistic health education

    • African Ancestral wisdom and healing modalities

    • mental health resources

    • somatic therapy activities (Kemetic Yoga, Sound Healing, Meditation, Breathwork, and more)

We are hosting 4 cohorts over the next year. Cohort 1 starts June 1st and Cohort 2 starts Sept. 14th. We will host 2 cohorts in spring and summer of 2027.

This program is open to all African American men, with priority given to Black Barbers and any men that has been involved in the justice system.
